This is just an FYI for anyone living west of Starnes Cove Baptist Church on up to Starnes Ridge, a bear come down a dirt road off one of the off-off streets about a mile from the church, pushed down a fence, and brought down and ate everything in the bird feeders. And this is a place with plenty of noisy dogs, happened at nighttime. So, if you're going to be out a'wandering, take a cane, stand your ground if you come across one, firmly tell him to "Move along there beast" or whatever. If you're inside, STAY INSIDE. You can get more reliable info online on what to do if you stumble right into a bear more or less.

I'm just grateful that we don't live among grizzly bears.

They're getting ready for winter, keep your garbage cans in the garage, take down your bird feeders, keep your barbeque grills clean as the smell will attract them. I had one push our grill right off the deck back in NY. If one comes by your house, you could try to make noise from a safe distance. Bang on pots and pans, blow a police whistle. Both worked for me when I had another one poking around.
