Hi folks,

Well this is an interesting thread. We RV alot, and lately have been planning our trips to places that we may consider relocating to in the future. During talks about next season's trips with Rv friends of ours, Asheville came up, so here I am.

I've never been to that area, that's why we're visiting different places. The areas near the GSM Natl Park has interested me for a while. Still would like to investigate the bordering TN and GA areas as well.

I guess the Fall is a nice time to visit, but how is the early spring, April / May down that way?

Thanks, I'll be reading

Default Yippee!

So pleased to make your acquaintance! We were thinking of a townhome community in terms of downsizing. We were apprehensive of noise in a multi-story condo. We would love to find a quality, well-maintained community with a high proportion of active adults interested in forming new friendships! You referred to a "I'll get your mail when you are out of town; you feed my cat when I am on the go" ambiance. A description you gave some months ago of just what you were looking for hit the nail on the head for us, also. Rather than elaborate community common facilities, we'd rather go with a simple meeting room. We want to make use of what is available in Asheville, rather than staying gated up, well away from town center.
The buyers' agent we are seeing this weekend is taking us to Village Park, Southside Village, Scenic View Terrace, and Amber Sunset. We also are going to see the plans for townhomes at Bilmore Lake. I have no idea yet if these meet our criteria for (ha!) beautiful seclusion not too far from the activities of Asheville. We are not yet even sure of our price range; I guess it depends upon how wonderful it is! I am so happy to be a part of the discussions on this board.

Kathy

LLL-Do you know anything about Mountin' Hopes in Marshall - provides equine therapy for disabled children/adults - I thought it would be a good volunteer opportunity when I live in Marshall - just wondering if you know anything about it?? -Liz

Thanks for the reminder--and the welcome--vandemusser!! We toured that market last year but, living in a hotel room, couldn't buy anything. We'll stop by on Friday for a truckload of farm-fresh produce. YES!!!

Our favorite season here, after autumn, is spring.Think dogwood and daffodils... happy, romantic birds... budding branches... light yellow-green leaves...feathery breezes... cleansing rain... and widespread optimism. Nature opens her arms, and so do we....

Welcome to the board!

Sure. It's Moderator cut: email removed, look in user profile . If you click on the name of the poster, a menu appears which includes the option of "direct message" or "email." We get both. The River Art Stroll with you will be a pleasure!

Thanks for that! I'm happy you're walking bowlegged these days!! Our godchild had horses all her young life, so I know what's involved. There aren't many more serious commitments (in love, time, money) than stewarding a horse!! You will own each other!!

Good to share with you, too, Kathy. I wonder if we should start a whole new thread to pool our knowledge about specific developments in the Asheville area. For example, I can tell you that the Biltmore Lake development is gorgeous and serene (gotta love that lake!), but the townhomes are huge, the community is nestled in the middle of some of the densest traffic in the city (an employee at a local food mart told us it took her half an hour to drive five blocks to work, or something like that), and POA fees + taxes are about the steepest we found anywhere.

Should we start that thread, or would that get ugly? I don't want ugly. What do you think, people?

Jan
