I recently stayed at a great B&B in Arden - - Bent Creek Lodge. It's up in the woods and very peaceful..if that's what you are looking for

Thanks that sounds good. We are just trying to get a feel for the area so unsure if we should be remote, or in town.

Default staying in Asheville

Downtown Asheville is a little freaky -- I would suggest "remote" lodging. If you're going high-end, Inn on Biltmore Estate is fantastic, right on the Estate, but costly. If you're looking for more of a cabin feel, Asheville Cottages is perfect. Quiet, remote, still within a few miles of Blue Ridge parkway, hiking, mall & restaurant area and still within 15 minutes of Biltmore Estate & downtown.

Go with a B and B for a weekend. For longer, say two weeks, consider renting a house. We like the Asheville Greenhouse in N. Asheville by the Asheville Country Club. Quiet, pretty, close to downtown and cheaper than paying by the night. Here's a link to the realty company. Asheville Cabins - North Carolina Vacation Rentals - Asheville Vacation Rentals
