I will be in the Asheville/Blowing Rock area Saint Patrick's Day weekend and was wondering if there were any related events going on in the area worth checking out, or if there are any local traditions that would be fun to partake in. Thanks!

This isn't necessarily St. Patty's related but this is going on that weekend, if you're in to this

I don't have any tattoos, but I do appreciate the artwork. I'll keep it in mind, thanks.

i guess natives aren't irish and there is plenty of beer all the time.

wrong culture

thinking back growing up we weren't too much into irishness. we were more scots. I used to hear bagpipes played echoing through the smaller valleys and hollers. Especially in July.

if there is a st patty's thing, it is something the chamber of commerce cooked up, not a longstanding tradition. Boone may be different, but it is also scots irish background and the big gathering of the clans is at Grandfather

Yes, I am aware of the Highlands Games every year at Grandfather mountain. I would like to check it out sometime, but haven't been able to make it as of yet. I'm not Irish or Scottish, but I do like bagpipes, whisk(e)y, and am always looking for an excuse to celebrate and drink a good beer.

I figured there's probably a Saint Patricks celebration somewhere in Asheville that weekend with good beer and live music and was just curious if there was a local favorite place to go around that time. Thanks.
