Skiing in NC
How is the skiing in the mountains of North Carolina? Where do people usually go to ski in the area? We're a family of avid skiers, just curious. Thanks.

The skiing in NC is the best in the south (unless you include WVA); but unfortunetly that's not saying much. The snowpack outside ot Sugar Mountain and Mt. Mitchell isn't really ski-worthy.

Boone is good. A lot of people here in the Charlotte area drive to WV (2 hours). It's better there.

I've driven from Charlotte to Bluefield, WV in 3 hours, but not for skiing. I don't know where their best ski resorts are.

Yes, it's West Virginia. We take I-77 north from Charlotte & you're at Winterplace Ski Resort in 2 hours flat. Check out a map. It's closer than you think!

I just mapquest it and it said it is 249 miles from Raleigh which I cant do in two hours , is that the right place? I must have the wrong place. What town is it in, when we visit our friends I want to be able to go there if they have good skiing, we are not in Raleigh anymore, but visit our friends once a year.
