World Property Channel, a Miami-based news network for the real-estate industry, ranked Bryson City third on its list of best mountain towns in America behind first-ranked Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and second-ranked Estes Park, Colo.

Bryson City was noted for it being a picturesque Southern town with a statue in front of the courthouse on the town square and an eclectic collection of shops and restaurants." N.C. Clampitt Hardware Co. is a place to find classic hardware and that Bryson City is the home of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, a gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Global real estate site ranks Bryson City No. 3 on national list

Interesting. I don't even consider Bryson City a "mountain town" at an elevation of less than 2,000 ft. But hey it's good PR for the area.
I guess anything above sea level qualifies as mountains for Miami

Bryson City is surrounded by mountains of pretty good elevation. The town itself is nestled at their feet and is a pretty little place with a beautiful TVA lake nearby. What the article probably didn't focus on what how far away it is from anything city like. It has a hospital and a Walmart and internet shopping works if you want to live a small town mountain life style. maybe that is all this company with the 'study' was looking at. I bet they have local music and crafts. Some big name Southern Gospel groups came from there.

To me these rankings are pure BS and are intended to sell the unsuspecting which is where I guess you were going.

that surprises me. we went there last year when camping at lake fontana and found one (1!) great restaurant and a lovely chocolate shop. oh, and a cupcake place. they had for sure nice flower baskets on a lovely bridge and rafting close by is great.
but I would not describe it as one of the best mountain 'towns' I've ever seen.

You are right Queen, there are some nice shops in the town and it is a good little tourist walking around place.

I agree. There is some pretty stiff competition in Colorado, Utah, and Montana. Cute little town yes. Great mountain town I'm a bit skeptical.
They probably wanted to be inclusive and have one town represented in the east.
