Default Please help me find a house in wnc!!

My boyfriend and I will be moving to western NC about July 1st and are planning a trip to check out employment and housing around June 1st. I have spent a lot of time sifting through craig's list and local newspapers trying to get an idea of home rentals. We would prefer a house with a yard and two bedrooms. We have two middle aged, lazy dogs that we raised from puppies so no behavioral issues; perfectly well-behaved. I will be commuting to Cullowhee for graduate school and he is a chef seeking employment in Asheville. Can anyone tell me the best way to find information on homes for rent? Are there good rental property management companies? We are looking to spend $700 or less a month. Thank you for any tips you can offer!

We found our delightful rental home at tonsofrentals.com. That Website is part of IPM--Investment Properties Management--in Arden, telephone 828.650.6850. (Our leasing agent is Robin.) Each rental property comes with a property manager assigned by IPM. So you get the house, the leasing agent, and the property manager all in one transaction. We have been very happy with this company's services.

Each listing on the company's Website indicates whether pets are allowed (so look for that first). To rent from those owners who allow pets, you will probably be required to place a deposit on the pets' behalf, refundable if there has been no property damage when you leave.

Anyway, look at the Website first to get an idea of what might work for you. Then telephone IPM. They are the biggest and just about the only rental company we could find in this area, and we did a thorough search.

Good luck!

Jan

Default Searching for a home

Your significant other may want to look for a job in Cashiers as well as, Sylva. This will allow you to go to school and him to work and probably save $200.00 a month in fuel costs. He may even find something at Harrah's Casino. In addition, who in their right mind would not choose living in Jackson County over Asheville. Asheville is a great place to go to but even better to leave and return home.

WNC university has a housing office. Have you check there? Also, you should try to see if the university offers employment opportunity for spouses of graduate students.
