Momma bear was on the other side of the fence and had to come back and tell those cubs to "come on."
I gotta hand it to you, there y'are, just calmly taking some pics. I'd be freaking out. And looka the underside of momma's paw there. I wouldn't want to bump into her on a dark night, that's for sure. I prefer that sort of nature from a distance.

You are very observant. After viewing the thumbnails, I enlarged the photos and then also said "Yikes!"
Cool bear pics!
When I see the male up here, I give him wide berth...
We have a sow with cubs most Autumns; she gets a very wide berth, if I see her in the mtn meadow she frequents.
There are no places to run to up here as the houses are so spread out. Thus, I pack some mornings on my hump up the hill.

The previous week, a fairly large spotted fawn (all by itself) crossed in front me, very close to the same location.
I was going down a road in a long valley, and saw something bounding toward me on the other side of the road. It was an older fawn and I was astonished to see it scale a very high vertical embankment like it was nothing . . . and in broad daylight.
I still don't understand how it climbed that thing. There wasn't much of anything to get a footing on.
Gosh. It sounds like a perfect place for a person who loves animals of any sort. I'm not overly fond of snakes but do understand that the black ones are good & the copperhead are not. How would I find information on apartments?
