You will have to go to Wolf Laurel or Maggie Valley areas where they mainly have to make snow (if temps cold enough), as Asheville area does not have a true winter time as one might expect and hardly gets any snow to sled or snowboard on.

Too much about Asheville is over rated and though these are mountains, they are southern mountains of the Appalachian range and hardly see snow for any amount of time as the temperature fluxuates too much and is not stable or cold enough long enough to allow for true snow activities like other mountainous ares to the north.

We ended up at Wolf Laurel because it was the closest. It was 50 degrees when we got there and the snow tube was was disappointing for us at first but my little sons had a ball, the could have cared less it was only 6 ft high and a 10 second ride down barely a bunny slope. There was no one there so there was no long wait, thank goodness.
