What is life like in Weaverville or Barnardsville? Do you have to travel far for shopping? Are the roads in good condition? What about traveling to the local schools, is it 6-7 miles away, but takes 20 min. because of winding roads. Would a Yankee fit in? or does everyone know everyone? We are looking for hill views but want more than .5 acres. Also what other areas would you recommend?

Hey!
I live in the Weaverville/Barnardsville area and have for 13 years. (Moved here from Indiana!) As a matter of fact we live in a gorgeous home right now closer to Barnardsville - but just bought some land - so we're trying to sell this house. I have two kids (13 and 7) The roads are fine. I can run over to the Mars Hill Ingles or the Weaverville Ingles....it's not bad. There are doctors offices in Weaverville. Hardware store.... And they are building a huge Lowes/Wal-Mart in Weaverville now. I think it will be done in Spring of 2008? Though it looks like they are just now getting grading and retaining walls done. Weaverville is getting really built up and taxes are high. Better to get to the outskirts to lower your house payment by $200-$400 a month if that's an issue. Madison County is beautiful and still not butchered up like Weaverville is becoming. My neighborhood is called Seven Glens. Very pretty - but we've always wanted to build - so that's what we're hoping to do. Market is a little slow. My house has been on the market since July. But homes are still selling. We just missed the big Spring time rush. We'll hit it this year and sell. It's pretty here. Not boonies....Asheville is only 20-25 minutes away where all your malls, Sams Club....that type of stuff is. Hope this helps! |

Hi,
Moderator cut: no advertising I am of Indian decent and my fiancee' is Briitish. We live in the valley of Barnardsville called Dillingham Rd. We are completely surrounded by national forest with incredible views. The neighbors are the reason to move here. The valley has very nice people that come from diverse backrounds and educations. Alot of people have horses or cows. I would say it is a wholesome place to live. The people care about their neighbors. If you were to steriotype the perfect place in the mountains with all the reasons people move here, this valley would be it. The water comes out of the mountains at this point as well. We are not the only ones wih a 100 gallon a minute well. If the world got strange, this would be a safe place to live on all levels. I can honestly say the neighbors in this valley would be there for each other. Last edited by autumngal; 12-22-2007 at 10:53 PM. Reason: advertising not allowed per TOS |
