The policeman would have to live in a trailer. Are there many trailer parks in Asheville?

I don't think Asheville is quite ready for a huge jump in growth. Traffic is bad enough just with tourist season in the summer. Yes, the job situation is bad here if you rent & unless you make good money it's tough to rent a clean place, & Asheville is no longer pet friendly unless you got one of those little dog toys.
Which is considering most people here have dogs more so because everyone tends to be pet lovers.
We're hoping that Asheville doesn't become like Charlotte. The skyline gets ruined & with more people come their garbage, pollution, etc. Not to mention that crime of course goes up. Sadly we feel Asheville might lose it's soul that would be sad not many cities have that anymore.

AVL wont become another Charlotte, anytime soon. Not nearly the jobs, the pay, etc.

Agreed for the jobs & the pay however. People who want to move here don't seem to care about either of those things. I talked to a women at work who wants to move here from California she's an Herbalist I told her that this town is full of them & she might have to do something else. She disagreed. But the population is going up & without the two others growing as well.

Charlotte:
City 800,000
Urban 1.2 Mill
Metro 2.3 Mill

Asheville:
City 83,000
Urban 238,000
Metro 425,000

A'ville isn't 'becoming Charlotte' in most of these readers' lifetimes.

No, ppl need jobs and an income to afford AVL. Example: $28k starting salaries for teachers, firefighters and policemen dont cut it.

I would hope not I doubt if it would reach close to those numbers anytime soon myself. But Asheville might be headed that way at some point.

Does 28K include health insurance, 401K contributions, pension, disability, bonuses? If not, add on at least 15K.
