Publix may be coming to Hendersonville. The supermarket chain is looking at locating its first Henderson County store on the southwest corner of Greenville Highway and White Street where a new retail center would displace Atha Plaza, Tractor Shed, Blue Ridge Bedding and El Paso Mexican Restaurant and close Market Street.

Ingle's Markets #77, the supermarket chain's second Hendersonville store, has been open since 16 July 1980. It will be replaced by a 77,427 square feet store with bakery, delicatessen, cafe, pharmacy and fuel station. No date has been set for construction.
If Publix moves forward with a store on Greenville Highway, Ingle's Markets should get the ball rolling on the new store #77. It appears to be breaking out of a stagnation period with the additional store #134 in Enka and the replacement store #31 on Smoky Park Highway in Asheville both under construction, and 15 to 20 stores lined up for remodels.

Publix Eyeing Sites on Four Seasons Boulevard, Hendersonville, North Carolina?
Park Ridge Health purchased the former Four Seasons Cinemas' 3.25-acre site at 1300 Seventh Avenue East, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792-2801, for $1.8 million last June. The site's previous owners "pitched the site to Publix, the Florida-based supermarket chain, but could never consummate a deal."
I do not know if Publix has scouted sites along or off Four Seasons Boulevard prior to the Greenville Highway site, or if it remains open to an additional store in that trade area. The only supermarket along Four Seasons Boulevard is Bi-Lo #5603, Henderson Crossing Plaza, 120 Henderson Crossing Plaza, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792-2879.

Just don't think it's right out on Four Seasons there is Walmart, Big Lots,TJ Maxx and a Kohl's, we have nothing like that over here on the Spartanburg Hwy side. A Ross's, Marshall's or even a Target would be nice. I remember going to Rose's and Sky City as a kid. And Four Seasons has restaurant row,as I call it. It was so nice to see the BoJangles go in on Upward Rd. How about a Popeyes or Backyard Burgers, Red Robin, or a Steak N Shake any would be much appreciated!
Kohl's does not have a store in Hendersonville yet.
With Upward Road's widening to four lanes complete, it should not take long for commercial, residential and industrial interests pick up.
That would be a great area for a Publix. Right across the road on the opposite corner from the Mountain Inn & Suites is a huge parcel of land, and seemingly other large parcels. The White St. area may be a traffic nightmare.
