Papas and Beer is good sometimes.

A few other places have fresh ingredients, but somehow still manage to be middle of the road. Always thought that was strange.

Outside of those two places you're talking a fairly long drive.

Papas and Beer (all locations) could be a lot cleaner. Too many other good places to go. (imo)

Who cares about clean as long as the food prep area is sanitary? To each their own, I suppose.

Skip El Rebozo.

Good luck seeing that most restaurants are owned by Papas & Beer. Which used to be good but they are sort of bland these days. We go to Greenville, SC for Mexican these days.

"Most" ?? As far as I know they only have 3 in this area. Where are all the others?

Sol y Luna also has 3 locations, but they are excellent -- and clean.

Papas & Beer has at least 5 regional locations named "Papas & Beer"

Brevard Rd. (the original location)
Hendersonville Rd.
Asheville Hwy
Tunnel Rd. near the tunnel
and one in Simpsonville, SC

They also own at least a couple other restaurants:
Nachos & Beer on 74 in Fairview
Mamas & Beer on Tunnel Rd. across from the VA

I wouldn't be surprised if Botanas & Beer in Candler is owned by them as well.

There is a club in California with the name Papas & Beer who threatened the local restaurant with legal action if they kept building new restaurants with that name. I have no idea why they didn't force them to change all of the names.

There are way more local Mexican restaurants around here that are not owned by the owners of P&B. I definitely would not drive all the way to Greenville.

Yeah, I'd have to go with Sol y Luna over them. I guess you could say Papas & Beer is the baseline for a decent place. Which took a little getting use to since compared to a large city it's closer to average (but good for this area).

They own Mamas & Beer. They own one off Patton too. And Mamacitas is owned by them as well.

We just don't drive down there to eat if we decide to go hiking down that way then we stop & eat there.
If you ever go to Greenville check out Gringos. Best Mexican I have ate in years!

Mamacita's is NOT owned by the owners of Papas & Beer. That is just flat out false.

I already posted which restaurants are owned by the owners of Papas & Beer ^above.

Aaah, thanks for the info. I didn't realize that Papas and Beer had so many locations and different names.
After two bad experiences in two of them, and so many other good places to go, they are off my Mexican list.

el Paso in Hendersonville is also very good; and always busy.
