Ingle's Markets #24, located at 863 Brevard Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2205, may be undergoing a store replacement onsite.
Asheville's Technical Review Committee approved plans for a 72,238 square feet supermarket with a 3,978 square feet gas station on the current site of 8.06 acres on Monday, 17 August 2015. The plan advances to Planning and Zoning.
The existing store 24, the second and 53,492 square feet in size, replaced the first store 24 at 825 Brevard Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2205 in 1993 or 1994. Petco #1553 occupies the former store. Store 24 replaced its video department with a pharmacy department in 2006.
Ingle's Markets #24 has temporarily closed for new store construction. All inventory, equipment, and fixtures are being moved out prior to the existing store's demolition.
nice....maybe they will finally fix the problems of the floating turds on the flooded bathroom floors!

Another Ingle's Markets store currently rebuilding is store 70 (2845 East Andrew Johnson Highway, Greeneville, Tennessee 37745-0957). In two months, the existing store was demolished and the framing and walls of the new store and Gas Express are up and nearing completion. Construction is moving quickly on that store. I wonder if the new store 24 will be rebuilt at a similar pace.
WLOS-TV provided an update on Ingle's Markets #24 yesterday. All signage, fixtures and equipment were removed. Demolition of the existing store should begin soon. The new store remains in the permitting and design phase. A timetable is not set for construction.

As of June, the new Ingle's #24, positioned right of the previous store, is up and nearly enclosed. Ingle's Gas Express is locating at the southwest corner the signalized intersection of Brevard Road and Asheville Outlets.

Ingle's #24 has been issued this week a pharmacy permit from the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. It appears the store will be Ingle's 100th pharmacy.
An opening date for the new Ingle's #24 has not been announced yet. I think it could open in September.
Anyone have an idea on a set opening date for this store? The Verizon store appears to be basically open, saw employees in there yesterday. Ingles parking lot was packed this morning, maybe an employee orientation?
