Well, there's hot and then there's !!HOT!!. We live in central Florida, but leave the state for 4-5 months in the hot part of the year. Last year, we summered in Flat Rock and will be doing that again this summer. Two years ago we summered outside Waynesville.
I think foothill NC summers are delightful. Hot enough to swim and tube down the chilly rivers, but not the suffocating heat of Florida summers. The nights are perfect. I got a big kick out of everyone complaining last summer about the heat......if they spent a week in Orlando in July, they'd hightail it back to the foothills as fast as they could run.
I love Flat Rock and the Hendersonville area. Lots to do. Everything you could possibly need are within reasonable distance and if Hendersonville doesn't have it, Asheville will.
