Maybe you can help me? My son and DIL live in Southern Pines, but they spend many weekends in Pisgah and the Linville Gorge areas. They love hiking, fishing and hunting and have two huge dogs which they like to let run free. So anyway, the first weekend in Feb, they are going to start looking for a lot where they can build a vacation house with possible rental income potential. They want it to be adjacent to the parks. They want the land to be under $30k if possible.

This is such a vast area, can you suggest any way of narrowing it down, since you actually live there? Any pitfalls to avoid?

I would definitely suggest they stay near Linville Falls. There's Parkview Lodge or Linville River cabins. LRC builds log cabins and his prices are very reasonable. Cindy is the owner of Parkview and can really help you....she knows everyone and I think Shawn Ollis is the owner of the cabins. It is breathtakingly beautiful here. Great area, I live on the Linville River I have 4 dogs and 2 horses. The people are very kind and I think it's the most beautiful place on earth!!!
