Hey y'all! We plan on taking a ride over to Lake Lure late next week to see the foliage. But what foliage maps/reports say is one thing; reality is another.

We've had some abnormally warm weather this year. Are the leaves near peak around Lake Lure? If anyone could inform me, I'd appreciate it

The leaves are doing nothing in Asheville. All still mostly green. Lake Lure is lower and most likely more behind then that. Plus it's suppose to be over 80* next week..... :/

No you need to go to high elevation like Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Boone. Lake Lure usually peaks in the first week or 10 days of November.

Grandfather Mountain reported on their facebook page yesterday that leaves are getting some good color there now. This weekend should be excellent.

Fall color is speeding up along the Blue Ridge Parkway, illustrated by some bright reds, yellows and oranges at the Stack Rock Bridge. According to Dr. Howard Neufeld, "Fall Color Guy" and professor of biology at Appalachian State University, cool mornings, moderate daytime temperatures and abundant sunshine have accelerated leaf color development in the High Country. In fact, since last weekend, hillsides in the 3,000 to 4,500 elevation range have seen a 30 percent increase in fall color, Neufeld said.

5000 foot level of Beech Mt experiencing some nice color change, but much of the Blue Ridge Parkway is nowhere near peak color yet.

We're at 3,300 feet in the High Country and there's very little color here yet.

We just hiked Mt. Pisgah today and the colors are much further along than where we live (our elevation is 4400 feet), but I would guess it would be another week before it hit peak up there. At least.

I don't know but I wish they would either go home or learn to drive. People ya can't just STOP on a hwy and point to the beautiful trees there are folks behind ya going 55MPH! Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One AssClown on one of the slower side roads STOPPED ran out and grabbed a few apples off a tree. Didn't care a lick about the cars stopped behind them, oh and that's theft by the way! I hope they ate them right after a spraying and wondered why they were sick.

The last time I was on the parkway on the way to Mt. Mitchell and beyond, the tips of the occasional Red Maple a fiery red. That was a month ago.

That's a road that's made for a convertible.

Here's a link to a webcam on Blue Knob: NC High Peaks Black Mountain Range Webcam

I need to do that run one last time this fall in my Caterham.
