I use SkyRunner. It's a wireless service using a small dish antenna on the roof to connect directly with one of their sites. It has to be line-of-sight. If you're on a hill or ridge it greatly increases your chance of being eligible for their service. Our line-of-sight is to a mountaintop about seven miles away. Weather has not been an issue but I suppose it could be; we've only been using the service for two years.
For us, they were a much better (faster) alternative than the DSL that we used to have. When there's an outage (rare) I immediately get a call explaining what's happening and how long the outage is expected to last. Outages have been short and have never required a visit from one of their technicians (with one exception.) We did have to get a tech visit to re-aim our antenna when we replaced our roof. That should be necessary only every 20-30 years or so. By the next time we do that we'll probably need a bigger antenna anyway to receive decent speed for the holographic movies that we'll be watching then.
