If Not WNC, Then Where?
Where can I find great Mountains, with great views, 10 plus acres of land, with a Views, Bear, Deer etc on the land, Hiking, ATV ing.
With lots of touristy things to do ( I get bored easily) Close to a city of with all the amenities ( Good Food, Big Box Shopping, Cool Downtown) as well as progressive, educated people that have a "life" and not hateful on newcomers?
Price $400 - $500K is OK as long as it is not overpriced and going to BURST IT"S BUBBLE in a few years.

Just 10 acres of land for that price, or did you mean a house on 10 acres of land? If you meant a house AND land for that price you can find it - BUT NOT CLOSE TO A CITY. You would have to be willing to live a more rural life. If having a city nearby is that important you will have to settle for finding something in Asheville or its surrounding areas, but give up on the 10 acres - you just can't have both.

In your case, being willing to be more rural you will have more options. Check out the areas surrounding places like Weaverville, Mars Hill or Clyde in western NC. In addition, consider southern/southwestern Virginia. Land is beautiful there and much more affordable than the Asheville area.

I'd look on the Tennessee side too. Before I settled on Western NC, I was looking around English Mountain near Cosby, TN. Acreage was pretty cheap at the time. Don't know about now.

Checking today's MLS listings, a house on 9+ acres for <$500k can be had in Marshall, Canton, Burnsville, Rutherfordton, Clyde, Saluda...

All great places! But again he wants a city close by with cool amenities since he gets bored easily I'm afraid other than maybe Rutherfordton he would think those others were way too small. Though of course that's what I LOVE about them! Now the other poster XDemoKnightX might want to check these places out for sure.
