We are travelling to the area and we are looking to see if there is somewhere we can rent a 4WD vehicle for a day or so?

We didn't find much on google...

Any suggestions?

I am not familiar with any rental agency in Franklin area, either...
Don't know where you are coming into area 'to', but AVL and GSP have the usual car rental companies, and one or some of them may offer an AWD or 4 wheel drive vehicle to rent.

Maybe a Franklin area poster will read this and rent or loan you theirs.

I want to add that unless the owner of the house mentioned that you need 4WD for access, most places are accessible with front wheel drive. Our neighborhood is way up a mountain on a gravel road, you can get up here in a front wheel drive vehicle unless it has snowed.

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you were saying you were renting a house up here.

Well, we are renting a cabin North of Murphy for a few days, we were hoping to drive Beaver Dam road, up to Davis Creek and then up to Whigg Meadow- but we were told that route would require 4WD...

Anyone know the condition of those roads?

This is the route: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/87+H...53!2m1!1b1!3e0

I don't, but I do believe that any normal rental car place should have a 4wd to rent out. You might need to go into Georgia which isn't too far from Murphy.

Does your party have experience in off road 4 wheeling? If you don't, it may not be as simple as a rent a 4WD.

You can call these guys who are in a similar trade, Carolina Buggies & Custom Golf Carts, Western North Carolina, Cherokee County

There's a place in Blairsville, GA called Motor Sports Plus next to Cabin Coffee (great coffee shop) who should be able to help, it's about 15 miles down rt 19/Murphy highway. May see similar small places on the way, GA people have more money lol. Get a helmet.

Not sure if they mean like a yamaha quad or a jeep wrangler. A 2wd truck is probably sufficient, or AWD car.
