Asheville Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located at 3 South Tunnel Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28805-1055, the southwest quadrant of South Tunnel Road and Tunnel Road in the City of Asheville in Buncombe County, North Carolina. It opened Friday, 30 July 1971 with three anchors: Bon Marche; Belk #112, 5 South Tunnel Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28805-2218; Sears #1185, 1 South Tunnel Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28805-2218.

Ivey's opened in the mid-1970's. Ivey's was acquired by Dillard's in 1990. Ivey's Asheville Mall store became Dillard's #148.

J. C. Penney #2346 opened in 1989.

Bon Marche became Meyers-Arnold. Meyer-Arnold became Upton in 1987. Upton's became Montgomery Ward in 1994. Montgomery Ward closed in 2001. It is now Dillard's #148's men, children, and home departments.

Asheville Mall underwent an expansion in 2000 which included Belk #112 adding a second level, a food court, a parking deck, and additional shops between J. C. Penney #2346 and Belk #112.

Sears #1185 and Sears Auto Center #6035 are projected for redevelopment, At Asheville Mall, that could include Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

The redevelopment of Sears #1185 and Sears Auto Center #6035 could indicate a grim future for Sears Holdings in Buncombe County. Sears Holdings is down to two Kmart stores in the county: Kmart #3886, The Shops at Biltmore Square, 980 Brevard Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2259; Kmart #4112, 1001 Patton Avenue, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-3603.

I noticed Sears Auto Center #6035 may have closed recently as its store page was not coming. Considering the closing of Sears, Kmart, and Sears Auto Center locations, I assumed Sears Auto Center #6035 may have closed. It is still open.

I wonder if they would replace the Sears with a Macy's since there is no Macy's store in Western NC. I often see shoppers with NC tags in the Macy's parking lot at Haywood Mall in Greenville, SC. Seems like a gap for Macy's in Western NC, with closest stores in Greenville and Charlotte.

^^Although Belk tends to dominate the dept. store sector in NC and tends to be doing better overall than competitors Macy's and Bon-Ton which have struggled recently. Bon-Ton is undergoing bankruptcy and is closing stores, including Hagerstown, Maryland which is being converted to Belk. And Belk recently took over a former Macy's in Bowling Green, Kentucky which is part of the Nashville, TN retail market.

The mall lost all gap stores in January. Gap is the only place I can find petite jeans that actually fit. There’s literally no reason for me to go there now.

Isn't Old Navy part of The Gap group? Maybe they'll have something?

Saucy, did the Gap go fully out of business ? Maybe they have a website if you do a search for Gap jeans. Worth a try.
