As a previously frequent biker coming from a flat land, I can comment on this concern in regards to AVL. When I moved here, I found that my biking decreased significantly. There are some very good places to bike - mostly along rivers or creeks. But these places are disconnected and trying to go anywhere off the designated paths can be dangerous or impossible to reach. Unless you live along one of these short-length greenways or paths, you might expect to have to carry your bike in a motor vehicle to do any safe and pleasant riding. With the extremely slow pace of any improvements actually being completed here, I would not expect this to change in just a few years from now.

One of the problem wanting any kind of change is that nobody votes in Asheville. So we have douchebag politicians who get away with anything.

Bike paths? Ha! Sorry, kids, but you need to get out and vote.
