Default Good kayaking spots

We will be back in Asheville in mid-June (not doing any work on the homebuilding - just visiting) and we are looking to do some kayaking. We don't want to do whitewater kayaking in those inflatable kayaks - just regular kayaking! Does anyone know of a quiet, peaceful place to kayak? Thanks for you help.

Hey, why not ask our favorite moderator, SunnyKayak?

p.s. We have canoed the French Broad - which was fun and a great way to see Asheville from another point of view.

someone call me hehe.

I love doing both kayaking types but more of the tour kayaking like you.
It is more relaxing and you can really enjoy the enviroment.

Im going to kayak more this year than last year but it might be in limbo the water depth due to the drought.

Here are some photos I took at the headwaters of the French Broad River just south west of Asheville near Rosman NC.

Pardon the murky water but we had a passing thunderstorm during our day trip.
(That was fun to experience).

There is outfitters along the road but I forget who we used for our trip.
Purpose of the outfitter was so they could drive my partner from the Get out of river points and leave the vechile there and drive them back to join me at the headwaters.

The trip was very lazy all you need to use the paddles for is steering away from rocks or tree limbs

The outfitter in Rosman you were referring is Headwaters Outfitters. They are located about 1 mile west of Rosman on US 64 where west and north forks come together. They will be located on the right.

BadTiger

PS: They are moving into a new outfitters building as the same location.

Good thread for me to use for something different.
I would suggest Davidson River near Brevard I am sure it gets deeper later part of the river but around the campground it really shallow and I was nervous of busting a hole but it great for tubing.
