We actually found some wild ginseng for the first time on our property, quite exciting! This year seemed like a good year for wild flowers and plants,in the spring I saw wild iris, trillium, black cohosh just to name a few. The mushrooms are starting to pop out now too,we went to a mushroom identification class/gathering last year which was very interesting!
That's really neat, but be careful who you tell. Several people have been prosecuted in Watauga County (and probably elsewhere) in the past few years for poaching ginseng on private property.

Congratulations on your new job working for the Southern Highland Craft Guild! I bet it’s a lot of fun!
Thanks! Not new though. I've been there since 2016. Yes, it's great, but I spent a good part of my first season's wages on good, supportive shoes... and on some of our irresistible handcrafts.

Good for you! It must be a cool place to work and I know that the same exact thing would happen to me,actually I think that I’d most likely spent ALL of my paycheck there, they got a great assortment of talented artists in there!!
As far as supportive shoes are concerned I can definitely recommend ones made by Vionic, just in case you’re looking for a second pair

Would those mushrooms be magical? Nom, nom, nom nom nom.....
I always heard they grew on cow patties in the mountains. Couldn't say from firsthand experience — never been looking for that kind of experience, personally. I am not a mycologist and don't go around eating wild mushrooms for fear of getting the wrong one and not living to tell the tale. I know folks do like to hunt for morels around WNC, though, and those are pretty distinctive.
