costco and target in wnc? (Charlotte, Raleigh: appointed, to buy, bankruptcy)

I think this has been addressed before, not sure, and I can't find it. So forgive me if it is duplication. Is there a Costco and is there a Target in the Asheville area, or elsewhere in WNC? Someone may have mentioned that one or both of them was coming in, but again, not sure and can't find the post. Thank you.

Thank you, Loves Mountains. I did already look there and was disappointed. I seem to remember someone here on the forum saying Costco was coming in soon to Asheville, and both Target and Costco to Weaverville? Anyone know about this? Thanks.

First time I've heard about a Target planned for Weaverville. Asheville and Arden are the only current Target stores in the Mountain Region at the moment. There's also one in nearby Hickory, but's that's the Piedmont Region.

A friend of a friend said that Costco is coming to the strip mall hell out near the Asheville airport sometime this year. Also REI, from what I heard...

I was worried that I wasn't going to have a place to buy a 5-gallon bucket of pickles... my worries are over!

Thanks for the chuckle, vandemusser! Actually, Costco is our favorite store. We drove from Hendersonville to Greenville recently to walk around Costco--bought a pair of pajamas and had the tires rotated (free when you buy them there).

We asked a manager about the rumors. He said that right now the closest Costco to Hendersonville is either Greenville or Spartanburg, and that Costco is coming to Asheville within the next year or two. He didn't know exactly when but it was definitely in the corporate plan.

Jan - REI is a great outfitter store - camping and hiking gear - with good deals for members. Good place to buy hiking boots. Glad to hear Costco is coming to Asheville -
