Default Residential designers/cheap architects near Waynesillve?

We are pretty close to starting the process of building a second home in Waynesville. It may become our primary home in a couple of years, as we plan on spending at least May through November there.

We have some property in Waynesille. To us stupid people from Florida, the lot is pretty steep, but the locals tell us it is easily buildable. It has a great view and is just 5 miles from Main Street.

Can anyone recommend some residential designers or cheaper architects to help us with a design? I understand, and fear, the problems of getting local builders to build for us, but we need to get a plan first, then get bids, and then decide whether to build or to buy an existing home.

The first step is getting those plans.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, John
