Default Restaurants in Black Mountain

I posted this in the Western NC thread but got only one response. We are going to Black Mountain this Friday and would love to hear your experience (if any) with the following restaurants. DH loves German food so I listed one I could find. Perhaps my friends in Charlotte have dined in a couple and could recommend one from the list or your fave. Or, tell me NOT to go to which one.

Berliner Kindl German Restaurant & Deli
121 Broadway
Black Mountain, NC 28711

Black Mountain Bakery
102 Church Street
Black Mountain, NC 28711

Black Mountain Bistro
203 E. State Street
Black Mountain, NC 28711

Highland Grill & Oyster Bar
10 East Market Street, Cheshire
Black Mountain, NC 28711

Camino's South-Western Grille & Cantina
107 Black Mountain Ave.
Black Mountain, NC 28711

Thai Basil Inc
227 West State Street
Black Mountain, NC 28711

We are planning to eat dinner in Black Mountain on Friday, 18 and Saturday 19 but are looking for good breakfast places as well. We have a 13 and 11 year old, oh and a dog!

Bibit,

I've been to Black Mountain twice and ate at the Black Mountain Bistro - Black Mountain, North Carolina on both occassions for dinner. They have a very nice outdoor terrace, with tiki-torches, which I would recommend if the weather is co-operative. I recall that my wife and I ordered an appetizer, 2 mains, split dessert, wine and beer for under $50 - we commented on the prices and how refreshing it was vrs. city prices. Their menu is online.

Can't really comment on breakfast, as we waited until 11am and ate an early lunch at verandacafeandgifts.com - Home . Great croissant sandwiches.

There are several independent coffeehouses that have lighter fare, inc The Dripolator Coffeehouse, Black Mountain and Asheville, North Carolina

Good luck.

I have eaten at Thai Basil in Asheville and found it to be very good, I can't comment specifically on the Black Mtn location. If you are in the mood for Pizza, "My Fathers Pizza" is good pizza.

cabercro is on a distinguished road
I worked for a few summers in Montreat, which is about 2 minutes from Black Mountain, so I've eaten pretty much everywhere.

The Black Mountain Bistro is AMAZING!!! Great food, great atmosphere, lots of choices.

For breakfast, go to the Morning Glory Cafe. It's down Hwy 9 on the other side of I40 (go away from downtown). Wonderful organic, fresh, local food. The pancakes are especially good.

The other local fave is My Father's Pizza. Amazing pizza, stromboli, and sandwiches with a nice outside seating area.

Also, if you have time for a drive into Asheville, it's well worth it to stop by the Tupelo Honey Cafe. It is my favorite restaurant EVER - in any city. The food is amazing - they serve lots of fresh, local, organic options that are detailed and unique without being just strange. Very good portions for a fair price. Plus amazing biscuits with honey and jam Try the pimento cheese appetizer, the Charleston Chicken, sweet potato pancakes, or the porkchops.

I hope that helps - if you're thinking about a specific restaurant, let me know, cause I've probably been to it

Okay loves...I'm waiting with baited breath! Thanks to all who provided good reviews. I thought it is really strange that I got more responses here than in the Western NC thread....hmmm, either the local yocals don't eat there, or we are just a bunch of munching foodies here in Charlotte.

OR

we are just really really friendly here, and helpful!!!

hey there bibit - while I would love to help you out here...I have yet to make it to this area (although my sista lovesMountains was doing some major convincing on this area the other day...so I am sure it is just a matter of time before we head up there too)!
