Specifically speaking about the towns outside of Asheville. I've heard Asheville is pretty liberal, but what about towns nearby like Weaverville, Fletcher, Hendersonville, etc?

Weaverville and Fletcher are more conservative than Asheville, but not ultra-conservative, due to their proximity to Asheville. Of the two, I would think Fletcher would be more conservative.
Hendersonville has more registered Republicans but Asheville is moving this way, so it is becoming less conservative gradually. If you are looking for very conservative towns, I think there would be better fits. With that said, you can find like-minded people in any of these towns. Have you considered some of the smaller towns in upstate SC?

This.
I'd consider both areas purple personally. WNC, even its conservative counties, are not as uniformly conservative as nearby counties in more conservative states.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't see trucks with Trump and confederate flags flying on them. Hope that answers your question, OP.
That doesn't answer it at all. I also daily see Biden and/or Obama bumper stickers. Neither means that the region leans either way as a whole. Having moved from a very conservative area, I find WNC to be pretty balanced, with conservatives, liberals, libertarians and greens all well represented. Other than in Asheville, of course, which is heavily liberal.

This ^^^. Overall, this is true. What you see is trumpsters who are upset that parts of WNC are gradually becoming less conservative..
