I posted this in the main NC forum, but figured it might help to post it here too as I might get more replies from people in the area. If this isnt allowed I apologize.
Hi all, so my family and I (wife and young daughter) are planning on moving from the east coast to the town of Columbus in Polk county -we have a house just about closed on, its on the south eastern side of the town (dont know if that matters). The town looks great to us, schools are great and the surrounding towns all have super low crime rates BUT, the crime data for Columbus really concerns us -for such a small town, im not understanding how it can have such a high property crime rate especially when all the towns around it have hardly any crime.
Searching these forums and elsewhere on the net and theres 0 mention of it being an area associated with a lot of crime, just that its as it appears to be from the outside -a small, quant town, so theres this disconnect that i cant understand.
I suppose this is just a long winded way of asking those who live there/ around there or know the area -what gives? Is it a safe place or are we going to be worried about being robbed the whole time we're there?
Thanks in advance for replies/ help/ easing our worried minds since we are pretty much set to move down there in a few weeks.
