Default Seeking social work and/or advise from Australia

Hi All,

I’m Australian, and along with my partner and two small children have been successful in finding a home swap in Asheville and we are planing to head over for at least 12 months. I am a qualified social worker (MSW), with approx 8 years experience in post-release support for young people exiting custody, alcohol and other drugs, and mental health. For me to gain an E-3 visa, I need to have a job offer, and therefore am keen to try and contact services that could potentially be hiring. I have great referees, knowledge and believe that I have much to offer any team. Any advice/tips/contact suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks all...

Sam

Hi Sam.

My husband is Australian (Perth). We live south of Asheville in a much smaller town.

It's difficult to tell you where to begin...other than googling social service jobs in Asheville, North Carolina.

Good Luck with your search!

Kind regards,

Mrs. K

Default Job in Social Work

Hi Sam, I saw your post yesterday. I called one of the kids that lived with us when she was getting her masters because she worked in Black Mountain as an intern. I think some of her clients may have been in prison but I'm just not sure. The place she worked were interested in giving her a job after she graduated, but she took a job in Durham instead. I'm waiting for her to call me back, and when she does, I 'll let you know the name of the place. Black Mountain is not far from Asheville at all.

Smile Social work from Australia

I finally heard from my friend. The name of the place in Black Mountain is called Recovery Ventures. You sound perfect for a job here. She told me the folks at this place actually live here. They have to get a lot of counseling. Some have been to prison. There is Hebron Colony in Boone, N.C. This town is smaller than Asheville but a great place in the mountains. Good luck with everything. It would be great to have some Aussies up here.
