Default visiting Asheville

We are going to be spening 1 day and 1 night in Asheville in mid-August. What should we do on our short visit?
Is the Biltmore worth the ticket price?

Thanks!!

To me, it is. The Biltmore Estate is just amazing. It's hard to believe there was once a time in America of that kind of wealth, elegance and craftsmanship and it's still family-owned.

For a laid back resturant, The Mellow Mushroom. It is downtown and the food is AMAZING! Fatz Cafe is good as well... but Mellow Mushroom knocks my socks off!

For a more "upscale" type resturant try, The Black Forest (German type food), The Grove Park Inn and Richmond Hill Inn both are expensive and have great food.

I went to NC State and am all too familiar with Mellow Mushroom! So good! Unfortunately while in school, I never made it over to Asheville.
Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll check them out.

Depends what you are after, but yes the Biltmore Estate is unlike anything else I've seen.

If you go to the Biltmore Estate, that is your day, and you still won't see it all. Don't plan on doing it in half a day, you will short change yourself.
