y'all, what is this moldy, orangie yellow stuff that grows on top of the ground? it smells like mushrooms...very earthy. and when you touch it, it literally goes up in smoke. is it harmful to pets? can we make pizzia with it?
we had some more pop up this afternoon and it is much, much brighter yellow and gooey to touch.
what the heck is this stuff??

I'm laughing. I'm visiting your Western NC forum b/c we want to come and spend some time there.

We have that same stuff in lawns around the Triangle area (Raleigh/Cary/Apex/Holly Springs). We see it mostly when it's so darn humid. I see it in parks, grocery store parking lots and sometimes around schools. One time in our yard at the street...we don't have a dog...the neighborhood does. Funny stuff...never heard it called that.
