Cool relocated to nc from md

my husband and I are looking to move to wnc. We currently living in a small town in md. We are trying to find an area with good schools, safe etc. we have 3 small children (7,3,1). We have been looking at the morganton /hickory area but have recently discovered hendersonville. My husband is a superintendent in construction I am a stay at home mom. We really would like to find a home with a bit of acreage (say 5 or more) outside of a nice town, but not too expensive about in the 275k and down range. Any suggestions? Also how is the hunting in this area my husband is both a waterfowler and deer/turkey hunter? Can he find a good job in construction in wnc. Thanks for your help

We saw your post about moving to western NC! First off, let us tell you what a great decision! Hickory is considered the "foothills" of NC. It was voted "All American City" for three decades in a row! Based on your post, Hickory seems like the perfect place for you and your family! Hickory has great schools and a very low crime rate! Mt. View Elementary is a fabulous school in a small town called Mt. View. The homes in Mt. View are well kept and most of them new homes – Mt. View in general has a very all American feel to it! There are new grocery stores, and shopping centers, and most of the homes in the neighborhood have great resale values, because it's growing fast! The middle schools your kids would go to is called Jacobs Fork Middle School. It, too, is a pretty new school with great academic achievements!

Being in the "south", NC as a whole is very "hunter friendly" and there are many homes with acreage in the area! With your budget of around $275,000, you would be living in a "high end" home for this area. Around here, you will probably get more "bang for your buck" that what you are used to!
