Default Romantic accomodations near Blowing Rock

This year, we're planning a quick 2nd anniversary trip to the Blowing Rock/Boone area. We would like to stay somewhere cozy and romantic. A really nice Inn, resort, or B&B would be ideal. We'd only staying there 1-2 nights, so it can be a little pricier than normal.

No cabins/condos: we want a vacation from cooking
No properties with a golf course.
No chain hotels.

Also, tasty restaurant recommendations would also be appreciated.

Thnx.

Westglow is quite nice. For a smaller, cozier alternative you might want to consider Gideon Ridge Inn (www.ridge-inn.com) When we got married 13 years ago, we were living in Boone and had a teeny ceremony on the front porch of the Cone Manor House. Because we were just starting to build a new house, we didn't take a honeymoon. Instead, we spent our wedding night at Gideon Ridge. I highly recommend it! You can dine there as well.

Other fabulous restaurants in Blowing Rock include Crippen's, Best Cellar, and Village Cafe. You shouldn't miss Sonny's Grill for breakfast or lunch. It's a local institution.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Default Romantic accomodations

Crestwood is out on Shulls Mill Road and it is suppose to be really nice too. A terrace from the restaurant and has beautiful mtn. views. The Westglo that the others have already posted, won an international award for best spa. Have fun. Go online and check all of these out.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'll check them out.

Not sure about the spa. My husband fears massages.

Seattlenextyear, we just spent our anniversary weekend in the Valle Crucis area. I had started two threads, one about inns and one about restaurants. I also just posted some feedback about the restaurant we ate at. Check them out.

We stayed at an inn in Valle Crucis but they only served breakfast. It was very nice though. I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend dinner at the Mast Farm Inn. It was really nice. It's close to the original Mast General store which is also so worth a trip.

I see someone else mentioned the Crestwood...that looked very nice. It is on Shulls Mill road, the same road for the Gamekeeper. BTW, this is a great road to cross over from Blowing Rock to Valle Crucis.

We saw a wedding party take place at the Taylor Inn on 194 (I think) right off of Broadstone Rd which is the main fare through Valle Crucis. Its another very windy curvy mountain road if you like that...quite scenic too. There's a quaint little church with a neat hiking trail just behind it.

Have Fun!!!

I've been looking for a place to stay near Spruce Pine and encountered a number of very nice B & Bs in Waynesville.
I'm jealous...I never get to go anywhere for our anniversary. No. 35 is coming up next spring. I may need to be a nag and DEMAND a trip!
