We are looking at the Murphy, N.C. area what is the state tax on retirement income?

All income is taxed except that earned in the State of NC government work and some Federal pensions. My wife and I have a few sources of retirement income including State of Arizona (she worked at ASU) and it is all to be taxed. Tennessee does not have income tax, but NC does up to a maximum of 7% of the income.
