Default Students on Highway 64

Hi, my name is Kelly and I'm a junior at Elon University. I'm taking a travel writing class which focuses on the history and people of Highway 64. Our class has divided the highway into four parts and a group is visiting each section. My group and I are traveling the Brevard-Murphy leg on the weekend of October 24th.

The purpose of our trip is to get to know the area; visiting local restaurants and historical sites and soaking up the culture. We'll be publishing restaurant reviews on our website and writing in our field notebooks. We're planning on stopping by a music festival in Brevard and a pumpkin festival in Franklin on Saturday the 25th. Other than that, our trip is wide open.

I posted this to ask for recommendations on what to eat, where to stay, and who to talk to. I'm from Pennsylvania myself, so I have no idea what the western end of 64 holds. I'm really looking forward to eating some great food and meeting some great people, so it would be great if you could send me in the right direction or even leave your e-mail address for correspondence.

Here is the site from last year's group: www.highway64.net

Thank you!

Kelly
