I'm in need of some help. I am unable to drive, but need to get from Charlotte airport to Morganton.
I've done a bit of googling, and the closest thing I have found was Greyhound. However, they go out to Asheville (past Morganton), and for some unknown reason don't do a route out there.
So, I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could get there. Someone said that from Asheville to Morganton is about 50 miles. So no dobut a cab from there to there would be expensive as, right?
Greyhound stopped their Morganton route quite a few years ago. No idea why, probably because it wasn't being used much.
Its more like 60 miles from Asheville to Morganton, depending where in Asheville the bus depot is. Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of public transit here in WNC.
Email me privately. hymnsinger at gmail.com I often do the airport run between Charlotte and Boone for friends, and Morganton is actually not far from my home. Let's talk about it and perhaps we can work something out. It would be fun!

It wasn't that long ago that the Morganton stop was canned. Perhaps 2005 or 2006, at the same time as a lot of other smaller-town NC stops were eliminated and Asheville service was cut in half.
Unfortunately there's not really a good way to get to any western piedmont small towns anymore without a car. At one point NCDOT was planning a passenger train between Salisbury and Asheville (with a stop in morganton) but that was put on hold indefinitely.
