Homes in the Reynolds area are more spread out than in the Roberson district. There are few large neighborhoods. The largest are the more established areas: Haw Creek, Beverly Hills, and Kenilworth (the east side new Asheville Mall is in the Reynolds district). The most kid-heavy of these is Haw Creek, which is a mix of families and empty-nesters. VERY convenient to downtown, too.

curious--we were in Asheville last weekend. RiverCrest looks nice. It is in Fletcher. There is also another newer development further out that is kid friendly. Any new info on your end?

Hey Stephanie,
RiverCrest is actually in Arden. Where abouts is the newer development you saw? I will see what I know/can find out for you. We really enjoy RiverCrest so any questions I can answer about it, just let me know.

Hi stephanie773. Glad to hear that you made it down to Asheville. Spring is great down there.
We still have our house for sale here in Central Ohio. Lots of activity, but no buyer yet.
I am familiar with RiverCrest. I like the area and the homes seem to be a very good value. willbo1, I think you and I talked about RiverCrest before and you mentioned that it is a very friendly neighborhood.
Does anyone on this Forum know about the Ballantree neighborhood? The homes are older and more reasonably priced, but not sure if it has younger kids or older adults.

Ballantree is a subdivision of larger, mainly ranch or ranch-over-basement homes built in the 1970s. There are empty nesters, and also a fair (but not "heavy") number of kids. It will always attract families due to the good school district and many 4-bedroom homes. It's about 7-8 minutes to Biltmore Village and 13-15 to downtown Asheville.

willbo1, we have finally sold our house in Ohio and are ready to move down to Asheville. I have been watching RiverCrest and it is number 1 on my list. I have a 16 and 8 year old. The 8 year old is very active and is always looking for someone to play with.
You mentioned in prior posts that there are a fair number of children in the subdivision. Are there many in the 7-10 yr old range? What about teenagers?
Housing question for you: Why are there so many homes for sale there? Are there any issues that residences are looking to move away from (new developments, the power plant on the other side of Clayton, etc.)?
Thanks for all the advice. If you are comfortable with it, maybe you could provide some contact information and I can stop by while house looking.

Not sure if either of you are still looking for kid friendly neighborhoods but depends on the price point you are hoping to stay in. River Crest is nice. Ashley Woods is great as well. Both are in TCR district. Southcliff is great in ACR district. There are many other smaller neighborhoods that have lots of kids due to the school system. If you are still looking let me know and I would be happy to send more detialed info.
