Sorry to resurrect an old thread here. We love Buck Mountain - great fews, nice weather, good places for the kids (and adults) to play. We live in Fort Mill, SC, and go up to our cabin about once a month. It is an easy 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive from the Charlotte area, and only 3 hours from Raleigh. It is close to all the desireable attractions in the area, and yet still affordable. Boone, Jefferson, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are all close by. It is also very peaceful there.
