Did you get my email yesterday?

I used the email direct function on city data forum? Just curious.
Sorry, I haven't been on my computer much. Thanks for the info...
Nice place.. We aren't quite to the stage of looking at specific houses...
just starting to think about locations right now.

Dear Kelly,
I would suggest you look at Haywood County, specifically Waynesville, which is 45 minutes west of Asheville off I-40. You can get a stick-built house in your price range of $150,000 that might be older, but will look good and do just fine for you all's needs. However, acreage, no, because homes in that price range will be on standard-sized lots. But it's a woodsy area and you can see mountains up close everywhere from Waynesville's cute downtown, it has a newspaper, shops and places to eat, libraries... and the easy trip to Asheville on weekends will give you Civic Center entertainment, upscale art galleries and restaurants, and minor league baseball. Also, Waynesville, like most towns in WNC, is near various State and National Parks.
GG

I just bought a 2200 sq. ft. house in Sparta, NC, with 2 acres of land for 96k. I would seriously check out Sparta, NC. I'd say the best real estate agent around here would be Miles Reality.

Default Finding a retirement home in WNC

How soon are you wanting to find another home? I live just outside of Murphy, NC. This is a nice, quiet rural town with several amenities. We have a hospital conveniently close and great friendly people. Maybe you will want to move to our lovely community?

I'm getting off topic here as this post doesnot involve me, but if I was buying a piece of property, a subdivision being gated would be a deal breaker for me.

Thanks so much for all the ideas....
I have been to Murphy...what a wonderful area!!!
Waynesville & Sparta sound nice.

Zooropa..yes, you are intuitive!! Gated subdivision is not my style.

We are planning a trip soon to check out all these towns
that sound so wonderful.

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Kelly if you let us know where you are arriving from (which direction) and how long you have for looking, some of us could give you some tips on routes to follow to see the general areas we've talked about.

If it does not involve you, then why the reply? Not everything for sale is gated. Thanks for your opinion though...it means so much to me.
