I agree with Ironduff....you really need to put your money in a safe place for now, live in the area for awhile, and really think about what you would "enjoy" doing for the years to come. Why take a chance on possibly losing it. I am from the Charlotte area and wanted to check in on the Asheville site, just to see what the River Arts District is about...the Charlotte Observer had a wonderful article on it today...they also talked about 12 Bones Smokehouse....and other eating establishments....sounded great. Maybe just checking out what each area of Asheville has to offer, will give you more insight as to what you really want to do. Enjoy what you have....and maybe that too will lead you to the answer that you seek. Good Luck.
To the OP, you understand Automobile financing, why would you want to get into anything else? You definitely have a knack for it. Continue it. The market needs people that are willing to lend money on less than high end credit worthy customers, stay in a game you know.
Well he probably doesn't want to stay in that business because right now so many people are out of work. Generally, you need to have a job and usually not a temporary job or just unemployment. Well, that cuts out probably 1/2 of the people looking if not more. Then there are the high interest rates, some of these places as much as 49% (not saying his is). People with bad credit get desperate, they need a car to get to work or they won't have a job so they will do whatever they have to do. Many times they end up losing the car long before it is ever paid for. We do know someone in this business right now and with the economy right now this business has been hit pretty hard as well.
Good luck to you, I do hope that you find something that you enjoy doing first of all. Secondly, it would be really nice if it could benefit the community in the way of creating some job or providing a nice casual restaurant. Creating jobs right now would be probably one of the best things you could possibly do. The key would be...find a product that is NOT expensive because these days no one can afford expensive. People are cutting back and totays mentality is one of hanging on to money if one can after the hard times we have all been through. Keep that in mind and find a way of helping people do that.
Forget non-essential items--who needs them. The one common idea I see from people there or moving there is they want the more simple life not all of the high end stuff.
