Still wonderful ways to live in communities that are eco friendly
I am aboriginal being that of Indian descent and my heart and soul bonds with the mountains in N.C. I have seen much building here in these mountains and much cliffside building. I however am involved in small eco friendly energy efficient community places of gathering for homes. they have a community garden, courtyard, trails, they compost, capture rainwater, they have solar panels and the community of people who live in these places care and tend the earth. They are stewards. There is a place called Hickory Terrace and another called Gaia that are precious. What a sense of community. There are couples who have little ones and they all believe it takes a village to raise a child. I too believe in doing the best you can, not judge others, tend the areas of earth that you walk upon, give back to the communities, care for one another, grow your food, do not use chemicals, capture your water, create beauty and live gently. If there is anyone thinking of moving to Asheville, NC come check out the two places on the west side of Asheville: Hickory Terrace and Gaia.
Much peace,
Laughing Bear

These are great places and the surrounding helps you maintain the life choice. I love living in Asheville and would find it hard to live anywhere but the west side of town.

i think both these communities are beautiful and wonderful for the right people. My 2 objections is the lack of your own yard for pets, and They tend to be a little spendy for how tight the housing is. I guess it has to fit your lifestyle is what Im saying. For thoose it does these places are great.

Does anyone know where I can find more information about either of these communities? I googled both and found nothing about Hickory Terrace and very little about Gaia. Couldn't find a website or any houses available on the market. Just really curious, love the idea and want to explore if this would be a good fit for my family.
Thanks for any info!
