Dear friends,

We have missed keeping up with you! We've been as busy as we thought human beings could possibly get... and then we got busier .... We have been too busy even to tell you how busy we are....

We ended up (long story) using the money from the sale of our CA home to replace almost every single thing, refinish every single surface, and buy all the furniture and most of the furnishings for our 2,500 square foot home in East Asheville--while living in it and working with the crews. We took it down to its bones--definitely not our plan when we bought (again, long story). Since last August we have been thrilled to support the local economy (I'm only half joking), but we are now totally ready to stop doing that and enjoy normal life again without the constant (expensive) intrusion of workmen, however delightful. After three months of planning and six months of remodeling, we are so ready to enjoy a private home life again--which should happen for us within just a month or so! It has been a long and arduous journey--all-consuming, fatiguing, challenging, and at times mighty stressful and worrisome--but it has also been our most rewarding accomplishment! We feel blessed, and we are on our knees in thanks.

At the same time, we have been painfully conscious of those we visited over the Christmas season (in conjunction with our church) whose needs have been much greater than ours. Our hearts go out to anyone in need....

We share the rest of America's hope that better times are ahead........

God bless you,

Jan
