Default What's going on in Morganton

My husband and I are moving to Morganton this summer. We are young, just got married, and are moving there because it seems like a good place to start a family. He is a teacher and I am a nurse. I have a job in the works, we are still looking for him. Are we way off base that this is a nice town to raise a family in? Are the school systems good? Will my husband have trouble finding a teaching job? Just hoping for a little input on the town, besides what I found on the website. Oh, and I would appreciate a little positive, I have already read a lot of the negative on the long "ashamed" thread.

Default Morganton is a great small town

I live on the outskirts of Morganton and think it is a beautiful, quaint small town. It has it problems like any area (especially the unemployment rate), but the close proximity to the mountains and to the larger cities of Hickory and Charlotte, make it a great place to live for someone that doesn't require an extremely active nightlife.

The City of Morganton website is The Official website of the City of Morganton, you can also find a few nice pictures of Morganton and the surrounding area in Google images. Also, check out the small towns of Valdese and Rutherford College, they are about fifteen miles east of Morganton.
