First a disclaimer. I am not in the culinary market, but I know several people who are. These are my observations but I have not surveyed the lay of the land here to support them.
Assuming you are asking about the job market, there are a lot of employers but also a lot of employees/unemployed/underemployed in the culinary field. There have also been some restaurant closings due to the economy (and also some bad management), so the market is probably not as good as it was two years ago.
The moral of the story is make sure your information is current (not to mention ensuring my observations are correct).
