FYI, Avoid the area the week of June 8th. The Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church is having their annual conference. Motel rooms may be hard to come by.
Lake Junaluska is the Methodist Assembly Grounds, and one of my favorite places in the world! There are 2 motels, The Terrace,and Lambuth Inn, and MANY B&B's around the lake. It is very safe, close to Maggie, Waynesville, Cherokee, and not too expensive. There's golf, boating, fishing, and other stuff (not that I have time for any of that!). It's NOT just for Methodists, and it's a fairly well kept secret from the rest of the world. I just spent two weeks at The Terrace and it was wonderful. The staff is second to none. See it here:
