Default POD to Asheville

I am taking a job in the Asheville area in the next 30 days and wanted to know if anyone has any experience using a "POD" type moving service. Most likely I will find a transitional place to stay in Asheville for a month or two while I look for something permanent. So I will have to store the POD somewhere in Asheville until then. My "stuff" is a one bedroom apartment and will fill one 16' POD.

Has anyone ever used a service like this to move?

What was your experience?

Is there one POD company you would recommend over another?

Thanks!

Rob Caldwell

We used ABF U-Pack moving with their Relo-Cubes and they were awesome. This was last year when we sold our Asheville home.

Pods does not servce the Asheville market - they will deliver to Johnson City TN to the North and I believe Greenville SC to the south - but they are not in the WNC market. There is a similar service called "Go Minis" that you can look-up. I used Pods for a prior move in a different state and loved it. They delivered the pod, I took as much time as needed to load it, and then they picked it up. You can have the pod delivered immediately to your next home - or have it stored in their warehouse for delivery at a later date. Good luck with your move!!

We checked out PODS to move stuff from my wife's late mother's house in Indiana to Waynesville. It was twice as much or more than renting a truck, hiring a driver and paying guys at both ends to help load and unload.

My impression of PODS was that it is very expensive alternative.
