Hey everyone; I may be in the market for a used car once I get down to WNC. I'm driving a 2001 Chev Malibu, but I don't want to pay the $3K to get a new transmission once I drive it into the ground!

Can anyone make any recommendations on reputable used car dealers in the Fletcher area? I don't mind making a trip out of the to get a good deal.

The only place I can think of in Fletcher is a dealership right off of Cane Creek Road.

I think they've gone through a few different changes in brand affiliation, and I'm not sure the name or what they sell primarily, but that's really the only thing in Fletcher.

But once you get closer to town (Asheville), you'll find a lot more to choose from. As far as being reputable, I'd say they're all about the same. They all really want to sell you a car and at times off as being kind of weasel-like.

Jim Barkley Toyota (south Asheville). I would not even walk onto the lot of a "used car" dealer but only the used car lot of a new car dealer.

What AN says--go to a dealership where you can purchase a certified used car. That way you get the full warranty protection. Just got a 2007 Toyota with 12K miles on it from my local dealer so it has the full 100K warranty and a 3 month/3000 mile bumper to bumper coverage. I know Honda has a similar program. I've bought 5 Toyotas from this dealer over the last 7 years, 2 of them certified used cars.

Here's what they cover:

Each Toyota Certified Used Vehicle comes with a 3-month/3,000-mile comprehensive warranty from date of certified purchase. This warranty covers any repair or replacement of components which fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship. In addition, the following additional features are included:

Certified Warranty
Each Toyota Certified Used Vehicle is also backed by a 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty (from original date of first use when purchased as new). We also add a 7-year/100,000 mile 24-hour Roadside Assistance Plan (from original date of first use when purchased as new). For the enhanced peace of mind of an available Extended Vehicle Service Agreement, please visit Toyota Financial Services.

160-Point Inspection
At Toyota, only the best of the best Toyota used cars are chosen to be Toyota Certified Used Vehicles. When we choose a Toyota used car for certification, we have to do a little investigative work. Not only do we put each Toyota used car through an exhaustive 160-Point Quality Assurance Inspection, but we also run a CARFAX Vehicle History Report to ensure it's worthy of the Toyota Certification process. Then, each car is reconditioned to Toyota's exacting standards by factory-trained Toyota Technicians. We want the cars to look and feel as new as possible and we know you do too. We believe this helps maintain the value, as well as creates pride in ownership of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles.

Roadside Assistance
No matter which Toyota Certified Used Vehicle you purchase, you get the added security of 24-hour Roadside Assistance.
