Default Asheville Info

Just relocated to Asheville via Florida about 6mths ago now and have found the area to be kind of slow w/ regards to things to do. While I know Belle Chere is going on this weekend is there any really fun things to do on a regular basis.

I love the hiking aspect of things but I've found the trails around here to be disappointing and crowded on weekends.

I haven't found work as of yet, well did work at a place for a few months but owner was a Voodo type so had to jet from that mess.

I'd like to stay here as it's pretty and all and the weather is about what I wanted, but I've begun to search other cities to see what else is out there, not to mention the dating scene here is non existant.

Any help!

Yes Asheville is a stange town in that it seems that it has everything and nothing going on. I lived in the area until I was 23 and I made my way out west as fast as I could. Outdoors-wise, there is nothing else like it in the eastern U.S., unfortunately everyone else knows that. During the summer and on weekends it gets pretty insane, You deal with less people at the mall than in the woods on some days. However, there are some secret spots out there where you can get lost for weeks and never see anyone.

Work is hard to come by in that area especially if it's a specific trade outside of the medical field. You might have to break down and get a job at wal-mart or places of the like to supplement your income until something better comes along.

I couldn't give you any advice on the dating scene, i'm about as antisocial as it comes so anyone I meet just comes as pure luck.

I would have an escape route just in case the Asheville area just doesn't seem to work out for you. I moved out to North Dakota and found a decent job and an apartment within a week. Same with Wyoming, where I currently reside. In any case, I hope it works out for you. It might just take time, a little more than usual.
