FYI: And I hope not to kill your buzz, I moved to Boone in Summer '06 and lived there thru Summer '08 and when I told most locals that I'd moved there for the Snow they laughed and said "Well we haven't been getting much of that for years" and it came to be true. Heck even most of the Ski Resorts have closed down and gone out of Business, even the 2 most popular ones have been really hurting for some time in App Mtn & Sugar Mtn. While yes we got some snow it's mostly gone by noon every day.

If it's any consolation it does stay darn cold and it's one of the most if not the most beautiful place I've ever lived. Not much to do there so I moved to Asheville we get almost as much snow, it's bascially Boone on steroids. But good luck to you and your little ones and in business as well.

I know those feelings. We moved here, we're over by Greensboro, two years ago this summer. We came from Florida and I was so glad to see the seasons! And especially where you will be-the fall and spring-just beautiful. I wouldn't worry too much about the snow. Ice is the thing you have to be careful with. Way back in time I lived in Chicago so snow for me wasn't a big deal, and as said it doesn't last too long. But the ice can be an issue. So just be careful.

We love Boone. We always stop there when we make our annual autumn and summer trips to view the great scenery along the Parkway. I love to shop!!!!!

Again, good luck with the move.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I bought a summer home in Avery County in 2005 and never really left! I LOVE it here! Valle Crucis is BEAUTIFUL! I hear Mast Farm is wonderful for dinner and Gamekeeper and Makato's and I LOVE the chineese buffet in front of the Boone Mall. There are lots of wonderful places to visit in Blowing Rock and Banner Elk. The other day I drove to the top of 7 Devils and just sat and enjoyed the view! Living here is AMAZING! Btw, I'm from Pompano Beach, where in Fl are you from!? Again....WELCOME and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
